The Viewshare service has been retired. You can find guides on exporting your data or how to deploy your own version on this page.
After March 20, 2018 there will be no public access to Viewshare.org. All data will be taken offline and personal identifying information will be destroyed. This means all embedded views utilizing Viewshare will also no longer work.
We've got resources for
- downloading any data you may have added to the website
- capturing the views you made with the tool Webrecorder
Viewshare was developed by Zepheira for the National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program in 2009 as a way to share collections our partner organizations preserved under the program. It was launched in 2011 to the public as a beta service from the Library of Congress to provide access to diverse sets of content in visual ways. It continued as a beta and underwent a major user-interface upgrade in 2014. Two years ago, the NDIIP program was retired and the Viewshare service has followed that path. We learned a lot from this experiment and sincerely hope you did as well. A more complete write up of the lessons-learned from running the Viewshare service will be published in the coming months.
